Playstation 4 Mini Review

Batman Arkham Knight is a great game for any Batman fans. I am a big fan of Asylum and City (and even Origins), so I was expecting a lot of Arkham Knight and Rocksteady delivered. The city of Gotham is huge to explore. I though City was big and I was impressed with Origins’ size, but this one is big (at least 5 times bigger than City was according to Rocksteady). Despite the game's size, Batman is on the same beat he's been since the beginning. He is hunting for clues and grabbing gadgets that get him closer to catching bad guys. Once again, Rocksteady has used that same formula in this game to something great. Actual civilians in need scattered in the city would have been nice, but it does not really bothers me too much. There is a lot of things to do to keep you occupied for hours and hours.

There is a lot of similarities with Arkham City overall and there is nothing wrong with that. But there are a few differences such as the Batmobile. I wasn't crazy about the idea of tooling around the city in Batman's car, but it's surprisingly fun. Driving through the streets of Gotham when you've got a long trip ahead of you while smashing road blocks and fences is more fun I thought it would be. On top of that, you can double-tap a button and rocket into the air like you're being fired out of a cannon. Once in the air, you can really admire all the hard work Rocksteady has done for us. I mean this world is beautifully crafted and the city’s dark tone reminds me of Bloodborne a little bit. The tank mode of the batmobile is quite fun as well. I love blowing up those pesky drones tanks.

Every gameplay mechanic is better refined and balanced, leading to simply the best playing Batman game yet in my humble opinion. The combat is still as satisfying as before. There’s nothing quite like swooping down on your unsuspecting enemies and finish them off hard. The stealth portion is still amazing and so are the gadgets. Detective mode is back with a few twists such as using X-ray vision to check out bone structure. There seems to be a lot of collectibles to find in this game, from weapons, to upgrades to various riddles and secrets. According to websites, there are 243 of the glowing green rewards (vice the staggering 440 in City) as well as some races (underground challenges) across Gotham for the Batmobile. I can’t really comment about the story as I have not completed it yet, but so far so good.

Overall, I would give this game a solid 9 out of 10.
